The District of Columbia's Certified Capital Company (CAPCO) Investment Program has been created in partnership with the mayor's office and experienced private investment companies. This $50 million venture capital program is dedicated to investing in qualified small businesses in Washington, D.C. It is expected to strengthen the community's economic health and well being by providing local entrepreneurs the opportunity to seek out financing beyond what is available to them from traditional sources.

"Growth capital is crucial to our business economy," says District of Columbia Mayor Anthony A. Williams. "We have an unwavering commitment to supporting the District's business community. This fund will give our businesses a new capital resource and a new opportunity for success."

Wilshire DC Partners, LLC, a District of Columbia certified capital company, will invest in technology-related and other early stage qualified businesses under the District.s CAPCO Program. Investments may take the form of seed financing, start up financing and expansion financing in equity, debt, debt participation, or hybrid securities. Wilshire DC prefers to actively work with the management of qualified businesses so as to enhance the value of their businesses. Wilshire DC is owned by Newtek Business Services, Inc. and is an affiliate of thirteen certified capital company investment pools organized in Alabama, Colorado, Florida, Louisiana, New York, and Wisconsin.
